Counter-Attack in Poland – Turn 1 – 1st Soviet Command Pulse

Eager to reveal the German Blinds, the Soviets use a Staff Order to convert their aircraft into a reconnaissance plane. The recon aircraft arrives at the start of the Logistics Phase and has LOS to everywhere on the table. It remains on the table until the end of the turn.

It has 4D for spotting with a 5+ TN for all spotting ranges. It gets one spotting attempt when it arrives, but fails to spot a German Blind.

The Soviets activate their Recon BA-64.

The BA-64 makes a Double Move to the field. The Germans reveal two Panzer Recon units and fire at the BA-64 causing one Disruption Point.

The BA-64 makes a successful spotting attempt, revealing the Panzer Battalion HQ on the hill.

End of Soviet Command Pulse.

Counter Attack in Poland – Start of Turn 1

Command Dice are rolled.

Both sides roll a Command Failure and discard both of their 1s.

The Soviets have the First Command Pulse (most 5s).

Airpower Dice are rolled.

The Soviets have Air Superiority! A Soviet aircraft is on its way! The Airpower Dice is rolled – it will arrive during the Soviets’ 3 Command Pulse.

German General Support Dice are rolled.

All five General Support Dice are available on this turn (4+ TN).

Soviet General Support Dice are rolled.

The Soviets also get five General Support Dice this turn (4+ TN).

Counter Attack in Poland – German Initial Barrages

The German Direct Support Batteries fire at the Soviet Blinds.

The targeted Blinds are hit and each takes three suppressions!

Counter Attack in Poland – Soviet Preparatory Bombardment

Katyusha rockets and heavy artillery rain down onto the German forward positions from the Soviet General Support Batteries.

The Soviets (white dice) get seven successes, including two 6s. Seven Command Dice have been hit along with two Staff Orders.

The Germans hunker down and get five successes (black dice), including one 6.

The German command is rattled by the bombardment, but are relieved to only discard two Command Dice and one Staff Order. It could have been a lot worse!
