Combat HQ Books Update

Answers to some questions on the Yahoo Group – an update on Combat HQ.

There seem to be loads of supplemental rules floating around either here or on your website and I feel very unclear as to how complete the rulebook actually is or if it will be necessary to either purchase loads of supplements or have numerous pdf or printouts to refer to.

Okay, happy to. See below.

Could you clarify – are the rules now complete? Will all the supplements be included in a version 2 of the rules in a single book?

The Combat HQ rules were complete at the time of publication. That is they were a playable set of rules, but omitted certain rules for simplicity and book length. I’ve blogged/released many of these additional rules and intended to combine them into two supplemental books: Total War and Combat Command. I originally intended to release these before CHQ 2 but I’ve decided that it makes more sense to publish CHQ 2* first followed by supplement books.

The vehicles/guns etc covered seem very limited e.g. only a single artillery type for each country and no heavy guns, no rocket artillery, only a single Recce vehicle. Is there a more complete list somewhere or is this it?

I have stats lists that I’ll be making available soon. These will over Germany, Commonwealth, US and Soviet Union. These are just stats with no descriptions, but they’ll let you field the units while I prepare the army roster books. The new artillery rules cover how to use heavy guns and rockets.

Battlegroup selections seem limited – e.g. the British infantry get Churchills but often were supported by Shermans – how do you deal with this under the rules, please?

Army rosters are in progress to cover Commonwealth and other army organizations.

Any plans to publish Battlegroups etc for Fall of France, Italy etc?

Yes. Books will cover 1940 France, Desert War, and Sicily and beyond.

Here’s the current plan. Each book will be available in paperback, Kindle and PDF versions. Kindle will be available first followed by paperback and PDF.
