Counter-Attack in Poland

Following their defeat after crossing the Vistula, the 3rd Guards Army is ordered to drive the Germans back from the Soviet bridgehead.

This large game uses the Air Power and General Support Batteries from Total War, and includes a playtest of some new and revised rules.

End of Game – Major German Victory

With no hope of clawing back their lost Morale, the Soviets concede the battle and exit the field. The Germans gain a Major Victory.

With their attack successful, the Germans prepare for a Soviet counter-attack.

Turn 6 – 2nd German Command Pulse

With victory within their grasp, the Germans activate a Panzergrenadier Company to attack the Soviets in the trench. The Stummel and ZiS-2 trade fire. The ZiS-2 is dispersed. The Soviets are out of Morale so the Germans are awarded 2 Morale (1D3).

The Panzergrenadiers advance. One Platoon is dispersed by Soviet opportunity fire. The Germans lose 1 Morale (1D3).

The Panzergrenadiers fire into the trench and disperse the Anti-Tank Rifle Platoon. The Germans gain 3 Morale (1D3).

Turn 6 – 1st Soviet Command Pulse

Using their last Staff Order, the Soviets adjust their Fire Mission onto the Pak 40 Anti-Tank Gun Platoon. Despite a heavy barrage the Pak 40 is unscathed.

Using a Double Order, the Soviets remove the suppression and order an advance with the T34/85 Platoon.

The T34/85 fires but misses. Soviet luck is definitely running out.

Turn 6 – 1st German Command Pulse Continued

The attack continues. A suppression is removed and the Jagdpanzer IVs are ordered to advance with a Panzergrenadier Platoon.

Opportunity fire from two SU-122 platoons disperses a Jagdpanzer IV platoon. The Germans lose 1 Morale (1D3).

Both Jagdpanzer IV Platoons fire on the T34/85 platoon and disperse it. The Soviets lose 1 Morale (1D3).

The Germans keep the pressure on by activating the Pak 40 Anti-Tank Gun Platoon. It fires on the suppressed SU-122 Platoon and disperses it! The Soviets lose 3 Morale (1D3).
