Built on the chassis of the M5 light tank (Stuart) the M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage was produced to provide close support to US Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadrons. With its fast speed and break-off ability, the M8 can be used against enemy infantry and buildings, then pulled back quickly when threatened by enemy armour.
